Our office has gathered some useful links related to the North Carolina Court system and some of the community resources local to Wake and Durham Counties. This is by no means a comprehensive list or an all-inclusive list. If you know of a resource or are a service provider, feel free to contact our office manager and request your inclusion.

STATE-WIDE COURT INFORMATION AND RESOURCES:

The North Carolina Court System’s main website provides links and information for Background checks, careers, Civil eFiling Pilot, COA Docket Sheets, Court Calendars, Court Costs, Court Directions, Court Opinions, Criminal Court Dates, Forms Search, Local Rules, Mediators, and Trial and Appellate Rules.

Certain Rules govern cases from the Trial level through the Appellate level. After a case is tried at the District Court or Superior Court level, litigants have the opportunity to appeal some of those cases to the North Carolina Court of Appeals and the North Carolina Supreme Court. Here is where you can find the North Carolina Trial and Appellate Court rules.

If you are a Defendant or the victim you can find the criminal court hearing date here.

If you have a civil hearing scheduled in North Carolina, you might be able to find the Court date here. Each county publishes their court calendars differently, and you may not be able to find your date online. Contact the Clerk of Court in the county where you have a pending court date if you have questions.

The State of North Carolina has provided a valuable resource through their Sex Offender Registry Website which includes links to local, State and National Registries and information for you to provide help your keep your family safe.

WAKE COUNTY COURT RESOURCES:

The Wake County Family Court Calendar contains each Family Court Judge’s court schedule by week and month. For questions about Family Court calendaring procedures, contact the Family Court Office at 919-792-4875.

The Wake County Family Court Rules for Domestic Court. The purpose of the Wake County Family Court Rules is to provide for the fair, just, and prompt resolution of domestic cases in Wake County.

The Wake County Clerk of Superior Court. This site is intended to serve as an informational resource for the citizens of Wake County and other customers of the Wake County Courthouse.

The Wake County Register of Deeds provides services for the community and the general public including recording legal documents, recording deeds, issuing marriage licenses, recording births, and deaths and administering oaths for Notary Public.

On this website you can access Wake County tax and property information including searching real estate records, tax bills, get a copy of tax bills, and change the address for your tax bills.

DURHAM COUNTY COURT RESOURCES:

Contact the Durham Clerk of Court.

The Durham County Family Court Rules for Domestic Court.

The Durham County Register of Deeds.

Each county and/or judicial district may have their own set of local rules that must be complied with and are amended from time to time. If you need to access Local Rules for counties not listed, here is a good starting point.

COMMONLY USED WAKE COUNTY FAMILY COURT FORMS:

CHILD CUSTODY RESOURCES:

Time Together, a program provided by Triangle Family Services, provides supervised visitation and a neutral location for child custody exchanges.

Information regarding the North Carolina Custody Mediation Program is located here.

In some child custody cases the Court will order that parents use My Family Wizard. This is a valuable resource that parents, whether in litigation or not, may find useful.

CHILD SUPPORT RESOURCES:

The North Carolina child support guidelines are located at www.ncchildsupport.com.

[Please note when using their child support calculator that the “Plaintiff” is the person receiving child support and the “Defendant” is the person paying it, regardless of who the plaintiff or defendant is in your court case. ]
